How is this NOT the most pressing off-the-field-court/field/arena story of the 2012 London Olympics at the moment? Because Nick Delpopolo was given the boot from the Games after testing positive for marijuana.
And the U.S. judo team member hilariously claims it's due to the accidental ingestion of a pot brownie.
Delpopolo was expelled from the Olympics last week, while his accreditation was stripped and his seventh place finish expunged. But the 23-year old swears he never meant to get high.
The dirty test was "caused by my inadvertent consumption of food that I did not realize had been baked with marijuana," Delpopolo says in a statement, taking responsibility for his actions and adding:
"I apologize to U.S. Olympic Committee, to my teammates, and to my fans, and I am embarrassed by this mistake."
He's probably really hungry right about now as well.
