Ron Whiting helped launch the Wichita Business Coalition on Health Care in 2008 as a way to engage employers and medical providers on key issues. Now, he?s leaving Wichita.
The coalition announced Monday that Whiting had submitted his resignation, effective Sept. 4, to take a position with a national health care organization in Oakland, Calif., where he will serve as director of care delivery, partnerships and relationships.
Whiting will leave behind a 53-member organization that includes some of Wichita?s largest employers.
?Ron has played a critical role over the last four years, and we will greatly miss his contribution to the success of the coalition,? said Jill Beckman, division director, people services, with Intrust Bank and president of the coalition?s board of directors. ?On behalf of the board, the members and the staff, I wish to thank Ron for helping make the coalition the well-respected organization it is today, and we will continue to forge a path in Wichita toward better health, better care and lower costs.?
The goal of the coalition is to improve the quality of health care while lowering costs for purchasers in the Wichita area.
Executive members of the coalition?s board will provide leadership while they conduct a national search for a new executive director.
Whiting said the decision to leave Wichita wasn?t easy.
?This has been a very difficult decision for me, but I have been offered an opportunity which ultimately I could not pass up,? Whiting said in a news release. ?I care very much about the coalition and its important role in this community and am proud to have been a part of helping to bring the coalition to life. I am deeply appreciative of the board?s support of me and their commitment to the coalition. I am confident that the coalition is in a place in its development where it can continue to move forward under new leadership.?
